Note
found the answer to my own question. In Caswell County Deed Book C, p. 128, there's the following deed (abstracted): “James Jones and Amey his wife of CC [Caswell County] to William Halliburton, for 60 lbs VA currency, 378 A on crooked fork of Aaron’s Cr adj James Jones across to Harris’ Mt. 15 Oct 1785. Wit: Thomas Halliburton, Robt Humphreys, Robt Jones.” I have no doubt based on circumstantial evidence that James Jones married the widow of David Halliburton, and the above proves that her name was "Amey." Now the $64,000 question is: was she a Humphries?
